Sectoral Skills Intelligence - Sharing, Gathering & Tools

The DRIVES initiative monitors developments in the automotive sector through desk research, close contact with stakeholders, workshops, interviews, surveys, local interactions or by sharing good practices. This comprises assessment of skills needs, new or emerging job roles and the impact of drivers of change in the transformations needed for a green and digital automotive sector.

The work of the partnership also includes tools developed to support the skills agenda, in particular in the domain of apprenticeship.

Definition and Recognition of Skills and Job Roles

Based on the gathered sectoral skills intelligence, a set of Job Roles and Skills needed in the automotive sector were defined and described by the DRIVES partners.

To support the recognition of job roles and respective skills gained via education and training activities, the DRIVES Framework was developed as a pilot version of the EU-wide database of training courses with the possibility of issuing micro-credentials (digital skills badges).

Direct Support of the Training Offer in the Automotive Sector

The tangible outcome of intelligence gathered and the Sectoral Skills Strategy is the development of a set of Massive Online Open Courses to directly support education and training activities in the sector.

The training materials result from identified reskilling and upskilling needs after automotive industrial transformations and new mobility dynamics. The courses can be followed free of cost by individuals or companies to upskill or reskill their employees or by education and training providers in their courses, only through the DRIVES Learning Platform.
